Adjustments Blocked by Heno

This article will explain why Heno will block insurance adjustments.

If you see "Blocked by Heno" next to the adjustment line, this means you need to review the ERA to find out what's happening with the insurance payment.

Heno will block any FULL CHARGE adjustments in case you need to:

  • 1.     Call the insurance to get more details
  • 2.     Correct the claim and rebill
  • 3.     Set it to patient responsibility

Any blocked adjustments need to be addressed by the practice to ensure correct payment has been issued to your office.

If you correct and rebill the insurance, DO NOT apply the adjustments as your new ERA will give you more details.

RC193 Rejection

If you need to bill to secondary & want to avoid a RC193 rejection, follow these steps:

1. Check the claim history to ensure the primary insurance did not apply adjustments twice

2. If you see multiple adjustments from the claim history from the primary insurance, you will want to

  • review which one is the correct payment to send to the secondary insurance
  • remove any additional adjustments on the claim

3.  Bill secondary insurance ( How To Bill a Secondary Insurance)

RC193 Rejection means that your CHARGE - INSURANCE PAYMENT - INSURANCE ADJUSTMENT does not equal 0.

What this generally means is that the patient responsibility is not present on the claims as an adjustment with the PR adjustment group.
Without the Patient Responsibility adjustment information added to the primary payment, the secondary insurance is not aware of what their responsibility is in the processing of the claim.
