Diagnosis Code Update

FY 2022 CMS Diagnosis Code Update

• Heno will be updated with the changes Thursday evening September 30th
  • Changes can be reversed by the practice under Billing -> Manage -> Diagnosis Codes
  • Diagnosis codes not created by Heno will be excluded from obsoletion

• 165 Codes will be added
• 33 Codes will be obsoleted
• No outage is needed for this change
• M54.5 - Low back pain is being OBSOLETED by CMS

To see a list of your current patients with M54.5 - Low back Pain please use the button on the General Tab.
This will bring you to a report of patients that have M54.5 is present in their Chart, to edit the code please select the Chart name:
The page will bring you into the individual chart where you can change the Diagnosis code M54.5 to one of the new three options:

New Codes

M54.50 - Low back pain, unspecified
M54.51 - Vertebrogenic low back pain
M54.59 - Other low back pain

If you do not see the new codes, please select the checkbox to remove the "Common Diagnosis Codes"

***NOTE: Once the new codes take effect, the old M5.45 code will be labeled Obsolete within HENO, If you have ANY documentation that needs to be completed using the old code, you'll need to re-activate the code to do so***

In order to re-activate the code. You'll need to head into Billing>Manage>Diagnosis.

Once inside you can click the box for Obsolete Date is null, and the Diagnosis code will appear.

Inside the Diagnostic code, you'll see a box for the obsolete date. Remove the obsolete date from the box and save the changes and the diagnostic code will be usable again. You can make it obsolete by utilizing the obsolete button located on the left of the screen as well once you're finished with documentation and claims for the codes.
